Can i read files from an external HDD with an Iphone/Ipad

Hi, im going on very long trip, and it occurred to me that i could take some movies with me, the thing is i only have a 16GB Ipad so i cant put them in there. My question is, if i buy an external hard drive and put the movies there, can i then read them connecting it to the Ipad?

Is your external HDD wifi enabled (Also typically has a battery pack included) for use with iOS/Andriod devices?

You either get a hard drive with lightening/thunderbolt port, get a wifi hard drive, or get an android phone and OTG cable.

And there is nothing wrong with your English, way better then a moderate percentage of lazy Americans.

Thanks for answering, but i live in Argentina and all the tech products arent produced here, they´re imported and the prices are crazy. So i cant afford the Wifi hard drives. The one that i hadve in mind has usb c connection. Can i use that one with an Ipad or an Android phone?

As far as the USB 3.1 hard drive that is a no. You would still need a way to convert USB to Lightening and I know of no such adapter that supports hard drives.

That cable is a male end usb 3.1, and your hard drive would also be a usb 3.1 male end.
Something has to convert the data from one format to the other and something has to support the usb disk drive. This cable nor the iDevice does not do either.
