Hello! I am on Windows 7, trying to upgrade to Windows 10. I have an EVGA GTX 980 Ti and am on the latest drivers (368.81). Whenever I try to upgrade, I get the "The display is not compatible with Windows 10" message. I also tried it after unplugging my second monitor, just in case. My main monitor is connected via HDMI and my second monitor was connected via VGA, if that matters. Any ideas?

Thank you for your time.

Thank you for your time, James. I don't have time to do a clean install and all that within the next couple of days, but I figured out the problem. In my Device Manager under Display adapters where it shows my video card, there...

My main monitor is an Acer H236HL. They don't have anything to download on their website. I've unplugged my other monitor for now to troubleshoot.

It's possible Windows is complaining that your Windows 7 video drivers are incompatible with the upgrade (which they probably would be).

The easiest solution is to backup any important documents and pictures, and do a Clean Install (Remove Everything) of Windows 10 and then get the Windows 10 drivers and then reinstall all your programs and such again.

Upgrading usually causes more headaches then starting with a fresh clean copy of an OS. (and this has always been the case, even with upgrades TO Win7.)

Thank you for your time, James. I don't have time to do a clean install and all that within the next couple of days, but I figured out the problem. In my Device Manager under Display adapters where it shows my video card, there was also a "CyberLink Mirror Driver" which was installed with my video editing program. After removing that and restarting my computer, I was able to initiate the upgrade.

I have been looking for days and finally found this. I had some sharing display adapter installed from something and removing it allowed me to get Windows 10. Thank you for sharing your solution!
