Hi guys so I got a new motherboard when I switched to a new processor recently and I need to know how to install the latest version of the drivers for the mobo. So, I need to know this because I did not reinstall my OS so I am sitting here with probably an old outdated mobo driver version. I have a Gigabyte b150m DS3H right and I go to the gigabyte page>downloads>drivers>Click the drivers> and then I am lost after this? Apperently its supposed to be like really easy but I cant figure it out. Thanks!

Ya lost me... why would you need a new HD ? Are you sayinbg you have no place to back up your data to ? That is scary.

Is this Widows 7 or Win 10 ?

Windows 10 is transferable unless you bought A dell or something w/ Windows preinstalled

4. Transfer. The provisions of this section do not apply if you acquired the software as a consumer in Germany or in any of the countries listed on this site (aka.ms/transfer), in which case any transfer of the software to a third party, and the right to use it, must comply with applicable law.

a. Software preinstalled on device. If you acquired the software preinstalled on a device (and also if you upgraded from software preinstalled on a device), you may transfer the license to use...
You need to wipe the drive and install the OS fresh for new hardware... it is theoretically possible to just uninstall all the old drivers and reinstall the new bit it never works out

1. Back up the HD.

2. Make sure boot drive connected to lowest numbered SATA port .... but don't connect:
-Ethernet cable
-SATA Data Cable for and additional drives

3. Install Windows to boot drive after doing a full format

4. Turn off Windows ability to install Hardware drivers
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/82137-drivers-turn...
http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/8013-windows-update-...

5. Install all hardware drivers from original media for each component

6. Connect ethernet cable and run Windows Update till it stops doing anything

7. Install latest drivers for ALL hardware from manufacturers web sites. The reason we didn't do this in step 5 is 3 fold:
-Sometimes MoBo CD comes with licensed utilities with product key embedded and these are not on web site versions
-Its advisable to establish a working out of box conditions
-Sometimes newer drivers require latest Windows Updates

If you have other drives...

8. Turn off and connect next data cable to 2nd lowest numbered SATA port.

9. Boot to BIOS and make sure that boot drive is the 1st boot device, if not fix it

10. Boot to Windows

Below are the steps you can update the drivers.

1) Launch device manager : Run -> devmgmt.msc
2) Find specific hardware for which drivers needs to be updated by scanning the device list.
3) Once the driver is located, right click and select 'Update Driver Software'.

All drivers?or jyst for logitech software?

Its not a matter of updating drivers.... it's a matter of getting rid of all traces of old drivers. years back, when you installed a driver, then uninstalled it...it was gone.... now you delete a driver, reboot and windows re-installs it. If you didn't turn off Windows Update's ability to install drivers then the situation is further compounded as WU has a habit of installing wrong drivers.

You have hard drive which has maybe 14 - 16 drivers on it ... windows will have captured, copied and hidden older copes of all of them. Most of these will be for you old motherboard... even if you uninstall them, some fragments of the are inevitably left behind. While many folks have taken this route, you will find that most eventually get frustrated from the conflicts and other issues that arise and do a fresh install.

4. Transfer. The provisions of this section do not apply if you acquired the software as a consumer in Germany or in any of the countries listed on this site (aka.ms/transfer), in which case any transfer of the software to a third party, and the right to use it, must comply with applicable law.

a. Software preinstalled on device. If you acquired the software preinstalled on a device (and also if you upgraded from software preinstalled on a device), you may transfer the license to use the software directly to another user, only with the licensed device. The transfer must include the software and, if provided with the device, an authentic Windows label including the product key. Before any permitted transfer, the other party must agree that this agreement applies to the transfer and use of the software.

b. Stand-alone software. If you acquired the software as stand-alone software (and also if you upgraded from software you acquired as stand-alone software), you may transfer the software to another device that belongs to you. You may also transfer the software to a device owned by someone else if (i) you are the first licensed user of the software and (ii) the new user agrees to the terms of this agreement. You may use the backup copy we allow you to make or the media that the software came on to transfer the software. Every time you transfer the software to a new device, you must remove the software from the prior device. You may not transfer the software to share licenses between devices.

As for Win 7, if it is OEM version, it will install easily on a Motherboard of same name.... I have done it many times ... MS treats it as a warranty replacement. If your mobo failed and you replace it, a call to MS usually resolves the problem.

In addition, it's not about not being able to install it .....it's about being able to activate it. Let's say you manage to get it working updating drivers and the occasional conflicts are not all that irritating ... you still can't activate Windows. When you run Windows update ... it will see the new MoBo .... and **if** the MoBo replacement is a problem, it won't activate. So it doesn't matter which way you do it ... fresh install or the wa you are trying, int he end you are in the exact same situation.

A fresh install is quite easy

1. make sure you have all your product keys. If you don't run Belarc Advisor and it will produce a file listing them that you can save ti disk and print

2. Follow the tutorial for your OS:

And yes that would be accurate to say. I have not got an extra hard drive to back anything up on to, like I said, I dont know how to transfer things between hard drives like Windows.
