Creating a 168TB RAID 6 (24x8TB) w spare, for storage of large media, mostly Finished HD and 4K movie files.

Will also be accessing media to edit revisions and re-encoding as needed.

Connected to an Areca 1883x card - default stripe size is 64KBytes, was wondering if a larger stripe size of 256KB or 512KB would be better for the file sizes we are working with.

Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks

Personally I don't like odd (21+2) volume group sizes. I will also say that 150+ TB of space will be a very great loss when it gets corrupted or lost during a rebuild... Drive failure is not the only thing you need to think about. Here are a couple articles from SmallNetBuilder.com that illustrate the point RAID Is Not Backup and Prepare the right way

PERSONALLY, I would probably create multiple smaller volumes 2 x (8+2) + RAID 1 + 2 hot spares. If anything is irreplaceable, you can keep two copies on the two volume groups.

Thanks for the reply, I have thought about making two volumes in regards to corruption/rebuild time, as for data loss I do have duplicate RAID to this for backup, so was more interested in the correct Stripe Size as this one Editors will be accessing for production.
