Hello

So I currently have two HDD's. One is a 500GB HDD and the other is a 1TB HDD. I'm going to be building a completely new computer with a completely new motherboard. I'm going to have the 1TB be my main, master, Hard drive this time. Whenever I start up my computer from the 1TB it appears to have an unregistered copy of windows. I can easily get this so don't worry about that. I have a few games that I moved on that one. My main hard drive for this motherboard is the 500GB one. My question is will there be problems with my hard drive with the new motherboard when I connect it and start it up?

Hey there.

The short answer is "yes". Having Windows which you've installed on a different computer, with different hardware configuration (especially motherboard) and trying to boot to Windows by using the same drive with another computer will not work.

Basically you should make a fresh install of Windows, but don't forget to backup any important data which you might have, before you start the installation process. Here's a tutorial on how to do it: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1649-clean-install-windows-7-a.html (even though it's for Win 7, the advanced option where partitioning is mentioned, are the same for the newer versions as well).

Hope that helps.
