GTX 1060 Armor or GTX 1060 AMP?

I just bought a new system, at last.

I have it running in a small form factor case, rocking a Gigabyte Z170N Gaming motherboard, an i7 6700k, and 16GB of DDR4. I couldn't be happier with the results when it comes to my job. However for gaming..

I am running an older card from my old rig. It is definitely showing it's age.

I am running a GTX 480 AMP edition that has a shroud so big it doesn't fit in my little case. The GPU is the loudest thing in my build, next to the power supply, which is whisper-quiet as is.

For the wattage consumed, the performance is not ideal, and flickering has become a common problem as of late. I would like to add a new GPU to run my 1440P display and run the games I play on it smooth.

I could buy a GTX 1070, but I just feel the performance difference is lackluster for the price difference.

I wanted an AIB RX 480, however it seems they will never be released at this rate, and the pricing is a bit too high for a mid level card- $380 for the ASUS, and around $300 for other models.

I might as well go team green again, but I have some requirements.

It would be great if the card was around, if not, less quiet than my NF-F12s when gaming under a moderate load. Might not be super realistic, nonetheless.

Two cards caught my eye.

The MSI GTX 1060 Armor 6GB, and the Zotac GTX 1060 AMP!, at $269 and $279 respectively.

I am not sure which one would be the best for my situation. I would enjoy some overclocking headroom, but silence is key. I hear the Gigabyte models suffer from Coil whine, and I'd hate to listen to it while playing games during my time off.

Unfortunately, I'm at a standstill. I don't know what to do in my situation, and I don't want to wait another 2 months for new GPU options.

If possible, I would like some insight on which GPUs have better power phases, cooling, and acoustic performance before I make a purchase.

Thanks.
