Depending on your motherboard and if you want to upgrade, you could probably get a i7-3770k or a i5-3570k and be in pretty good shape. If you want to go to the newest platform, Kaby Lake is a Skylake refresh (like Devil's Canyon was to Haswell) and should be out later this year. All the generations since your CPU have been small performance increases 5-10% on average and mostly just added newer features, like DDR4 and USB 3.0, PCIe 3.0, etc.
My CPU is older than yours but I still haven't run into a program that makes me need to upgrade, and I haven't even OC'd it yet. If I do upgrade, it will likely be to Cannon Lake or possibly AMD's Zen CPU, depending on how it performs, next year.
