Is this gaming PC worth the price?

Solution
That's basically the PC I linked to only with a worse PSU and a crappier case! It also costs more!

It sounds like, because of your editing needs, your processor is going to be the most important part of your build.

Would you consider getting a high quality processor and using the built-in graphics for a while and spending £90-100 on a graphics card later after you've saved some more money?

You'll be able to play most web games using the built-in graphics on an i3. I've never tried it but I bet Minecraft will play on low settings too.

I'll post a link of a build with a much better processor but no graphics card so you can see what I mean....

It's not a good gaming PC at all.

The parts on their own add up to ~£250 to buy them yourself so if you assume there's some bulk buying going on by the seller it's a fair price for that PC

You'll be very disappointed if you try and game on this. Clock speeds aren't really a meaningful way to compare CPU's any more.

A desktop i5 would trounce an A8 whatever the clock speed.

Something like this is the minimum for a budget gaming PC. Don't expect to run any new games on "high" though....

Like the eBay PC you'd need Windows too unless you plan to use Linux/Steam OS.

It might be worth spending more though if you want it for editing. A decent CPU with plenty of fast threads with good ipc will make the difference there.

Are you expecting to get Windows in that £280? Because that's a third of the budget!

Nope, but im playing on running two monitors with the PC. I dont need very good graphics card, but I want decent one. I want the PC to be able to run very fast, I will upgrade graphics card later or try and get a bargain off ebay.

Or is there good pc builds online under 300 that I can buy which is very fast?

It's an i3 so although technically dual core, the hyper threading means it behaves more like quad core.

Even though the clock speed isn't as fast as some of the PCs you've linked to, this processor is actually more powerful. This is because the most important thing to consider when looking at a CPU is the IPC (instructions per clock). This is how much work the CPU gets done in a set amount of time. Because the IPC of the i3 is higher than that of the CPUs you linked to its actually more powerful, sort of like the cores aren't having to work as hard to get the same amount of work done.

This is the latest chipset with the newest type of RAM (DDR4)
