Hi!

A friend of mine just told me to do a stress test as he also did one for his new CPU and as I'm not really knowledgable about this, I'm interested if everything is as it should be. I'm wondering of course if this will have any significat impact on my CPU when I'm going to play games on maxed out settings.


The program used was Prime95 and the first test was Blend.

The results were following; this happened in the 8th minute so I had stop as it was starting to reach a bit too high temperature.

For the 2nd test, I used the Benchmark option.

So, If you're able to help me out it would be much appreciated. I'd also like to know if I'll need to change my thermal paste (the CPU is around 4-5 years old and I didn't change it so far) or perhaps if I require a better CPU cooler as the one I'm using is the basic one which came along with the prebuilt computer I bought. Thanks!
 
Solution
You don't need to stress test a CPU that hasn't been overclocked. The temperatures, whilst high, are typical for an i7-3770 with the standard Intel heatsink. You can buy a better heatsink, but you don't need to.
