I just bought a Kingston ValueRAM 2GB DDR3 1600MHz CL11 for my old pc, But after instaling it the system wont boot and just shows a black screen.
Now, I tried both slots but it didn't work.

my old ram is a transcend 2g DDR3-1333 U-DIMM (JetRam) and it works fine and the system boots.

motherboard: msi g41m-p26

What should I do?

Solution
You probably got newer DRAM (since late 2010 early 2011 DDR3 DRAM is made with high density memory chips), the older mobos like your socket 775 were designed to run with DDR3 of the time which used low density memory chips. Would return the DRAM and look for the GSkill NT series of value DRAM that is made with low density ICs

true that.
but i heard that this ram would automatically downclock itself to be compatible with any motherboard.

So there's nothing i can do about it?

mabe a solution, try installing old ram

go into bios and manually set ram speed to 1333mhz save and exit(to disable auto settings). then try to put the new stick in

update: (please make sure you power off the computer completely before you removing and adding ram) wait like 30 sec after you unplug it.
