Hello

I know there are some similar topics but I can't solve my problem and I don't know why. And mine is a bit different than the topics around. I'll be glad if you can help me. Sorry it is too long but I wanted to give all the details and eliminate all other other useless. I hope you read.

So my problem is, every other devices in the house (3 smartphones, 1 laptop, 1 tablet,1 PC) has full speed/access to internet except for me.

We have 2 PCs at home, and they access to internet via ethernet cable. But I use my wireless adaptor when I can't connect with cable. Cable connection on my PC is always unsteady and slower than it supposed to be. We have 24 mbps connection, but I get between 6-9 mbps with cable, and 3-6 with wireless. It's more steady when I connect via wireless but slower, probably because of the distance. Also when I connect via cable, the connection drops randomly. It usually says "network cable is not plugged in" (or something like that as I can translate) with a red x mark on the local area network icon. Sometimes it gets connected back, but usually not. And sometimes it says "initializing" with a continuously rotating blue circle, or a yellow exclamation mark on its icon. The other PC always gets a clear connection with 23-24 mbps. I did the speedtests on speedtest.net

To help you to eliminate the potential problems;

- I have 2 ethernet cards (1 on motherboard, 1 external), usually use the external, but same thing happens with both of them.
- I changed the cable infrastructure 3 months ago (with a new dsl cable and a new cat5 ethernet cable) and I bought a new modem. So there is not a problem about cables, modem or something like infrastructural.
- I scanned my PC with Malwarebytes, combofix, avira antivir
- I flushed/refreshed the dns cache (with command prompt and also with a software that makes the exact same thing)
- I tried to manually assign IP
- I just built this PC. I bought a new processor, a new motherboard and 8 gb ram. My graphics card and my ethernet card are not changed. I bought an old graphics card and a harddisc and also I built a new PC (the computer I mentioned before as "the other PC") with my old parts, for my father. This was 4 months ago.
- I don't want to format the PC because it is UEFI bios and it is too hard for me. Maybe not hard but it takes so much time.
- My ISP says there is nothing wrong with my connection when I call them.
- I tried to skim over the firewall settings but I couldn't find a reasonable problem. So I reset the firewall settings with some pc cleaning software.
- When I log in to modem interface, in the logging system there are some notifications like "LAN3 link down, LAN3 link up" with a few seconds between them. I tried to switch to another port, still the same.

My PC has Intel i5 6600, Asus Z170-K motherboard, AMD Radeon R7 250, 8 bg ram and a Realtek Ethernet card with Windows 7 Professional installed. Father's PC is also Win 7, but I can't remember the hardware parts of it.

Except the windows components and drivers, I have only a few major programs installed which are Firefox, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, Steam (with 8-9 games installed)) and some little programs (like teamspeak, winrar). I think I don't have any weird programs that toys with the network settings. But this is the only option left.

Because, the thing that makes me think this is a software issue is when I tried to run my PC in safety mod with networking, I did a speed test and it was working perfectly. I got 23-24 mbps and then I ran it normally. It was still working perfectly. But this only lasted until the day after. When I ran the PC it was like the way before, slow and unsteady. Then I did the same thing with the safety mod and it worked again. So I thought that I found a temporary solution but the other day, same thing did not happen. I ran with safety mod but it was slow and unsteady again. It became random. Sometimes working sometimes not.

Lastly, I found a new thing in task manager. In the networking tab, there are two connections. One is the wireless and the other one is lan. Under the link speed tab, wireless has 5 mbps, lan has 10 mbps. When I checked the other PC, lan had 100 mbps so I tried to skim over lan configuration on my PC and changed the setting with something like duplex written on it from automatic to 100 mbps. The speed was perfect but connection was dropping randomly.

I've been trying to solve this problem for months. I couldn't find a permanent solution. I'll be glad if you help me on this. Thanks.

Sounds like you covered your bases pretty well here. However, I would try and see if you can update the drivers for both the wireless card and the LAN card in your system. Check all drivers relating to internet connection and such, and see if they need updating. I believe if you are running on an intel setup, you can download an Intel driver utility that will show what drivers need to be updated.

Hope this helps!

Hello everyone,

I've been doing some tests over the past few months because I've been getting obsessed about this. I was sure that I saw Adobe Photoshop is written as the source of this problem, but I don't remember when and where I saw it. So I just gave a shot to uninstalling Photoshop from my computer, which is a software that I used for over ten years and I was somehow sure about it was harmless. But it wasn't. I was installing it whenever I format my PC, as a first step.

Before I uninstall it, I tried to stop its services, or any other kinda sub-services. But it didn't work, so I finally uninstalled. My connection kept stumbling for a few hours but the day after it became normal. I mean, the connection was crystal clear. No disconnections, no speed reduction.

And then I reinstalled it, to see what happens :) My connection went crazy again. I uninstalled it and the connection became very normal. So I am sure that Photoshop was the problem.

Unfortunately I couldn't find a solution yet. It seems I am doomed :) I accepted that there is no solution for this. So I am going to try to install Win 7 for my daily use, and Win 10 for Photoshopping and see what happens.
