I'm wanting to stream 4k across my home network with video from my Nas, the problem I am having is one of my media machines is across the house and I'm using powerline at the moment and I was wondering if wireless AC would be fast enough to stream 4k. That house layout is not able to run a network cable to these rooms on the other side of the house. What is the best option to do that?

Solution
Wireless AC will probably be slower than powerline across the house. Do you have the latest generation of powerline adapter AV2 MIMO ? What about MoCA (coax) ?
Your larger question is going to be how much compression you are running on your video. Netflix for example runs extremely high compression rates and can run 4k movies in under 20mbit/second of bandwidth. You do something silly like run uncompressed 4k at high frame rates and high color depth and even gig ethernet will strain to keep up.
