Are one of my drives running a little hot?

Hey guys,

I can't seem to find the safe temps or recommended temps for one of my hard drives. I have a Corsair Graphite 760t full tower case and I have 1 SSD drive and 4 HDDs in the case.

All my HDDs are Western digital. 2 of them are 2TB WD Black drives. One of them is model number WDC WD2002FAEX-007BA0.

I opened the case to check on the front fans and the amount of air they are pushing, and I noticed one of the drives seems a little toasty. After running HWMonitor and then installing the program Speedfan, I am a little concerned. It sound like there is constant acctivity on the drive, but nothing is really accessing it at this time, and Sppedfan is showing a flame symbal next to it saying it's running hot.

The current temp is 52c and was running only at 50c about 20 mins ago. Any suggestions?

That is indeed hot if it is on "idle" as you say it should be.
Can you install a front intake fan? the max temps for that HDD is 60ºC so you are pretty close. the usual idle temps i get on my hdd's is 34\35ºc, i do have a front intake fan and good airflow overall.

The issue is, I have 2 intake front fans, but the hard drive bays are not stacked up, they are side by side. Should I stack them? I did not do it yet because I was having issues getting to the screws that hold the drive bays down.

If you skip ahead to 6:30 on this youtube video, you will see the drive bay setups. It should start the video at 6:30 if you're on a PC and not a mobile device.

Actually... I just looked, and apparently the drive bays are mounted thorugh the bottom of the case...

If I stack the bays so the second fan is hitting those drives, will the rest of my stsyem get the air flow they need? I am using a hyper evo 212 for my CPU cooler, and it blows the heat right into the exhaust fan at the back of my case, and my GPU has two fans built in on it for it's cooling...

It was yes. With them side by side like that, the one drive bay cage was blocking airflow to the second. I just moved them into a stacked configuration. By stacking the one drive cage on top of the other one, both cages now have an in atke fan keeping them cool. They are running at 40 to 41c idle now. Not exactly where I would like it, but much better,

By moving that drive cage, I also opened up another spot at the bottom of the case for another fan. If i where to add one, should I make it an intake fan that would pull air into the case from the bottom of it?
