I know, I know... PCSX2 is very old, but yesterday I sudenly had the urge to replay an old game of mine but I sold my ps2 and have no way of playing it anymore so I tough about the PCSX2.

I have downloaded the emulator and gotten the ISO image of the game. I set my PCSX2 the way I tough was right. But whenever I try to run the game, it tells me to insert a playstation or playstation 2 DVD.

After a quick search on the internet, I found out that most cases it was a bad ISO so I tried 3 different sources, with all the same result.

I now turn to the tom's hardware community that has help me alot in the past.

Solution
As I understand it, it is illegal to create the ISO ROM in the first place. I think console game developers see it as altering/tampering with the original product, which is strictly forbidden.

Per Nintendo's view of it:

Can I Download a Nintendo ROM from the Internet if I Already Own the Authentic Game?

There is a good deal of misinformation on the Internet regarding the backup/archival copy exception. It is not a "second copy" rule and is often mistakenly cited for the proposition that if you have one lawful copy of a copyrighted work, you are entitled to have a second copy of the copyrighted work even if that second copy is an infringing copy. I will simply note that while emulators, by themselves, are perfectly legal, Most games are still protected by copyright laws and therefore illegal to download.

Tom's Hardware does not support illegal activity in any way, shape or form.

I'll leave it up to you if you want to continue this discussion. If you'd rather it be closed or deleted, just state so and I'll handle it.

Well I do own the game, I simply have sold my PS2 and turned to PCSX2 since I have a good computer and don't feel like going trough the hassle of rebuying a PS2. I'm not sure if this thread is against the rules of the forum, if it is please close the thread, otherwise I'm just looking for help to make my emulator work and relive my childhood :)

Edit : nevermind, I have looked alot on the internet and it seems to be the same thing everywhere, no one can help because it's a shady area and against most forum rules I guess. I'll just try to find a PS2 I guess. You can close the thread.

The backup/archival copy exception is a very narrow limitation relating to a copy being made by the rightful owner of an authentic game to ensure he or she has one in the event of damage or destruction of the authentic. Therefore, whether you have an authentic game or not, or whether you have possession of a Nintendo ROM for a limited amount of time, i.e. 24 hours, it is illegal to download and play a Nintendo ROM from the Internet.

Making a backup of a PS2 disk is permissible via the DMCA; PS2 disks have no copy protection, so there's no issues with backups.

Now then, make sure that in the PCSX2 menu, that "ISO Selector" is selected, rather then your CD/DVD ROM drive. Worst case, you might need to change DVD Plugins.
