I've been looking into building a new rig for gaming (mostly) and I was going to build with an i5 6500 until I saw a deal at a local computer store for a new (still in the box) i5 4590 for only $149.99. Where I live the i5 6500 is ~$200.00 at all times and I was wondering if the newer architecture was worth the $50 price premium, especially considering that according to passmark, the 4590 slightly outperforms the 6500.
4590: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-4590+%40+3.30GHz
6500: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-6500+%40+3.20GHz
Is the efficiency, the use of ddr4, or anything else worth the difference? (im not too worried about upgradeability, because by the time I need a new pc we'll probably be beyond even the lga 1151 standard)
Thanks
