I just got this Dell 990 i5 and it keeps making this noise like there is a flash drive in there but there isn't. It is that dropping off noise. I added this SSD drive installing Windows 7 pro and wondered if that is doing it. I hate to reinstall the regular hard drive that came with it but I am afraid I might have to. Oddly, when I added a new higher watt power supply, the drop off became worse, even to the point of completely shutting down. The 600 watt power supply tests ok but I removed it and the drop off noise decreased with original power supply but it still happens every now and then. I hate this when it is hard to diagnose the problem. Actually, I just got a new power supply and it is doing the same with with dropping off . The only thing, hardware wise, is this SSD drive I disconnected the Blu-ray DVD player. But with the new power supply it shuts down.

What are you talking about dropping off noise? Are you talking about the badoop sound you get when Windows detects new hardware?
