I can't get get Winows 7 updates. I have been working on this issue, literally, for days.

I have:

- Tried numerous methods from the internet
- Reloaded Windows 7 about 5 times. Each time I reload it, I reactivate Windows 7 successfully.
- I did a quick format to my hard drive. I also did a full format.
- The Microsoft "Fix It" program installs, but then gives me an error message: "can't load troubleshooters, etc."
- The Windows Standalone Installer gets stuck searching for updates, like the Windows Update function.
- Internet Explorer 8, successfully upgrades, with updates, to Internet Explorer 11

I really like Windows 7 when it works, I have it on my laptop and it once worked on my PC for a couple of years.

I'm at my wits end, but I would rather not "upgrade" to Windows 10 (tried it already).

Thanks for reading.

P.S. I made my own installation disk, and got the key/license from a 3rd party.

Thanks for trying to help but: "the update is not applicable to your computer".

I'm running Window 7 Home Premium, 64 bit. Maybe I need to buy a disk that comes with a key/license? I wonder how viable those "buy a $30 Windows 7 license/key" sites are.

You need to make sure you download the right update, did you get the 64 bit one? Do you already have SP1 installed? You don't need to buy a new license if your system came with it pre-installed.
