Problem identified from simply reading the title.
Kingston played a nice little bait and switch on consumers with the v300 drive. They released it with decent synchronous nand memory chips, got good benchmarks and great users reviews; and then right before 2014 holiday season they switched the chips in them to synchronous garbage brand chips.
And that is why 2 years latter they are still trying to sell off their stock of them, and why they are ALWAYS on sale on newegg and other vendors.
