I'm willing to pay the price of the 970 if it's better.
So far I've tried to see the benchmarks and rx480 seems.... unreliable. Problems with the power supply, a downgrade in 1920*1080 resolution, the overheating problems that may cause the extra energy supply etc.

Which one should I buy, if I want stability, reliability and performance without caring about the 50 euros difference of the price in my country?.

The CPU I have it's an Intel i7-6700K 4.0Ghz, got and SSD and DDR4 Ram.

Also, any advice on which economic case should I buy to avoid overheating? And which motherboard works fine with this build?

Thanks beforehand ^^

GTX 970 has 4GB , RX480 has 8GB, but there is big BUT.

if you want Shadowplay and all NVIDIA features, also the 970 uses lower TDP and is Cooler then RX480, also its very powerful card for 1080p , i wanted 970 buy this motnh , the msi 970 twinfrozer.

the RX480 has many problems the First is that you need strong motherboard to run it, because its fried so many Motherboards, check on google there so many threads about that, its just Destroys motherboard because of overvolting something like that. Also its need more power and its Hoter,

GTX 970
+nVidia (Features)
+LowerTDP
+Cooler
+/- 1080p Card.
+/- The 3.5GB + 512MB has been fixed by Driver updates i seen it.
+ U get good performance for Money.

RX480

- Danger for...

RX480

- Danger for Motherboards,it could easy fried everything (need wait for Firmware fix or smth)
- wait for Aftermarket models
+ has 8GB of GDDR5
+ has little bit better specs.
- its just AMD ,and AMD cards is not great as usuall... you can see it , Fried motherboards everywhere...
+it has DX12 support.
+its low price.
-------------------

so if you staying at 1080p ,and dont think going to 1440p or 4K then u will be good with 970, if no, then better buy GTX 1060 or 1070 , i suggest 1060 because of low price and 6GB of GDDR5 and its faster then RX480. because its same like GTX 980 Ti.

Cheers.

Driver update to limit current draw on PCIE slot was released a couple weeks ago for the RX 480.

If your choices GTX 970 or RX 480 go with the new RX 480 8GB. The GTX 970 was a great GPU but it's time has come and gone.

RX480 is not great card, he can buy GTX 1060 and it will perform better. ;) nVidia makes better product, AMD is just for LowPrices. Like you see, AMD Procesors and Intels , and AMD GPU and nVidia its all about the Quality.

A new PC build with an Intel i7-6700K 4.0Ghz should NOT include a video card like the GTX 1060 that can never be upgraded to a dual card configuration. The original question included interest in a GTX 970. Two months ago Nvidia replaced the GTX 970 with the new GTX 1070.

You are incorrect. When it's time to upgrade you sell the 1060 and get the best single card you can. I've had more graphics cards in a year than you've probably had in your life. I know what I'm talking about. In the last month I've had two 1070's and three 1080's.

Let me tell you one thing SLI gpu`s is not actualy great, one man told me which was working at IT, that you better buy 1 Single GPU not 2 SLI, because 1 Single GPU will always perform better, lots of games doesnt even have SLI support and , also with SLI you have Heat problems ,and need more power. BTW buy 1 strong single card like "FaZ1095" said gtx 1060 will be good, but later u can easly buy 1080 8GB and it will perform just great for years.

p.s sorry for my english. Not kind of my language.

When it comes to the case, cooling, power supply and motherboards there are previous discussion links on Toms Hardware for new PC builds - take a look. Look for comments from "darkbreeze" who is an expert on complete PC builds.
