Dunno if you got going with the 710 or not but I was, frustratingly, in similar situation. I had upgraded to new computer (W10 64 Bit i7) and upgraded to Pinnacle Studio 20 in order to capture via 710-USB. Even though all Pinnacle's documention mentions 710-USB as supported it didn't work (I could see/hear my input but no file would ever be caught or saved. Contacting Corel/Pinnacle revealed "no longer suppported").
I did a bunch of internet searching but nothing was working. I was thinking I'd have to use an old PC for capture using one of the various apps I read about but then I thought to try my Pinnacle Studio 12. Installed it on my i7 and it works!
I never cared for PS for editing, just need it for capture and very happy to see it working here. Only thing that would be better is a larger preview screen (whch PS 20 has) but that's ok. I can capture, AV sync is perfect. I am happy.
Such a relief too, as we spend money on this stuff that is ideal and then updates outdate it. I was looking at altenatives, including ones that baroil suggested. Even some of what should have been best (BMD Intensity) have issues, or specific requirements that weren't encouraging, or the cheaper altenatives only record to MPEG 1 or 2 or MP4. Not satisfactory.

I happen to like it and, as it's analog Hi-8 I'm working with, it's difficult to get quality footage with some other devices. Try some USEFUL information in your next reply to someone, smart mouth.
