Hi,

I have been using this with Win 7, 32 bit but hoping I can get this to work with a Win 10, 64 bit setup. Any answers out there?

Calling Black Magic's capture device junk? You clearly need to read up on the company, they basically took over where RED started, all of their equipment is top notch. The Blackmagic Design Intensity Shuttle for USB 3.0 I linked you to will handle all your video needs for the foreseeable future, and even has support for "HDR" video for when you're done using the two decade old Hi8 system you have.

Think $190 isn't expensive enough? How about http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/857462-REG/Blackmagic_Design_BDLKULSDEXPRESS_UltraStudio_Express.html . Still not high end enough...

I happen to like it and, as it's analog Hi-8 I'm working with, it's difficult to get quality footage with some other devices. Try some USEFUL information in your next reply to someone, smart mouth.

I don't think you understood what I was saying and ignorantly dismissed it. My point is that that thing is a decade old, and the developer does NOT support it anymore. You CANNOT find a valid driver for it and there's nothing you can do about it.

Here are some replacements you can use instead:

or if you want a huge upgrade in capture performance and quality: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/686585-REG/Blackmagic_Design_BINTSSHU_Intensity_Shuttle.html

Thank you. You could have begun this way. However, I've already looked at this and own another couple of pieces. All junk. I'll look into something else.

i use the pinnacle710-usb too -there is a win10 driver i use ... it s from

www.driverguide.com/driver/download/Pinnacle-Systems-710-USB-Device

i m pretty sure (let me know if you cant find it)

i went to device manager and put the driver in there - and restarted - i had to take out and put in the usb on the computera couple of times then it found it ,,, i have just started using pinnacle studio 20 --- after converting a video, the next one can look 'double' which gets better either closing and restarting pinnacle els remove usb and replace .... worth doing - often drivers do become available but can take some time

Dunno if you got going with the 710 or not but I was, frustratingly, in similar situation. I had upgraded to new computer (W10 64 Bit i7) and upgraded to Pinnacle Studio 20 in order to capture via 710-USB. Even though all Pinnacle's documention mentions 710-USB as supported it didn't work (I could see/hear my input but no file would ever be caught or saved. Contacting Corel/Pinnacle revealed "no longer suppported").

I did a bunch of internet searching but nothing was working. I was thinking I'd have to use an old PC for capture using one of the various apps I read about but then I thought to try my Pinnacle Studio 12. Installed it on my i7 and it works!

I never cared for PS for editing, just need it for capture and very happy to see it working here. Only thing that would be better is a larger preview screen (whch PS 20 has) but that's ok. I can capture, AV sync is perfect. I am happy.

Such a relief too, as we spend money on this stuff that is ideal and then updates outdate it. I was looking at altenatives, including ones that baroil suggested. Even some of what should have been best (BMD Intensity) have issues, or specific requirements that weren't encouraging, or the cheaper altenatives only record to MPEG 1 or 2 or MP4. Not satisfactory.

Thank you for the tip, to install the old Pinnacle Studio 12.After reading your advice I did the same on my windows 10/64 and surprisingly: it works. And it becomes even mor enjoyable: After the installation, even my newer Editing-Software (in my case MAGIX Video Pro 8) finds the pinnacle-Device in Windows and i can record my old hi8-videos and even my old DVC-Videos with MAGIX!!! - Wonder happen!

Sorry! I have to take back my previous posting.
When I tested the pinnacle device with windows 10, I only tried the funktion with my old DVC-camera. and there it worked. Now I also tried the analog-camera Hi8. And this did not funktion. Looks like i Have to install windows XP again. Maybe as dual-boot-system or in avirtual machine.

I tried to capture some video tonight with my 710-USB on Windows 10 using Pinnacle Studio 12 but now it doesn't work. I'm guessing a Windows update broke things. So after a bit of searching I found that there a couple of free programs that work in Windows 10 with the 710-USB! Audio from source needs to be connected to a sound capture device as the 710-USB doesn't seem to do it (unless that's just mine) but I have interface so that doesn't matter. The programs are IOTA and LiMovie.
