how do I unscramble my files in my external hard drive,put in with open office and now my new computor is office 365
have new computor and when I open my external hard drive and open a file it is just rubbish, cannot read it

Try other files,are they rubbish too? Probably means its corrupted

We have Microsoft Word and OpenOffice but none of the files will open in either. Most of the original files were typed in Microsoft Word. When I do eventually get them open they are all in random code, its just a random bunch of numbers and letters. None of the original words are there. Thought it would get sorted by purchasing Word because as I said before all my files were typed in Word. Thanks for the replies. Need Help ASAP please!

Im not too sure what the file extension is. Most of the original files are in Word Document and when they are opened in Word Document on the computer they show as random code and numbers,
