GTX 970 Not detected, no signal?

I installed this EVGA (refurbished) GTX 970, but my motherboard does not recognize it. I have updated the bios. The fans spin but there is no signal nor does the computer see it in the device manager. The PSU is properly connected to it and has adequate power to support it. The bios also prioritizes PCI-E GPUs over integrated.

Do you have the video cable plugged into the card or the motherboard?

Okay, but is the HDMI or DVI or Displayport cable plugged into you graphics card or your motherboard?

I sadly have no other computer that I can test the card on. I have a friend bringing his 750 to test and make sure it is not a motherboard issue, but that won't be for some time, and I'd like to get any information I can ahead of time.

Without trying another video card in your system or trying the 970 in another system there isn't much more information I can give you.
