What FPS would 3 way 780 SLI run 1440p at high settings?

I have one Gtx 780 and can get a good deal on two more but is it good enough to for high settings 1440p gaming?

That depends on the game 3 way sli is not supported well in the majority of games out there, I have seen some games perform worse in three way than 2 way or it can introduce stuttering and other issues. 2 way 780 sli should be enough for for the majority of games at close to max settings 1440p 60fps, however some are going to use more than 3gb of vram so that may cause some performance issues if it does.

and what "deal" are you getting?

A GTX1070 is 2X the performance of a GTX780, though it will be even higher in future games.

A GTX1070 (and other Pascal) has asynchronous compute capabilities which will really help in DX12 games. Not just a small frame rate boost but properly done will reduce stuttering vs the previous NVidia cards that do not have this capability.

A GTX780 also only has 3GB of VRAM which is getting to be problematic, and VRAM is not currently added for SLI (AFR method).

2xSLI scaling is all over the place from unsupported, to over 80% in some titles.
3xSLI as said is not recommended.

In the short term multi-GPU isn't going to be well supported in DX12 titles either. The change to the game engines is a key problem. It will get sorted out but I probably won't be recommending multi-GPU for about two years (educated guess) when hopefully core game engine changes make SLI work well (using SFR or Split Frame Rendering which is arguably the best method. Currently it's AFR which requires the same data in each memory pool and adds latency with each extra GPU, plus it's hard not to cause stuttering).

So...

I would buy a GTX1070 when prices stabilize (short supply and price inflation) then sell your GTX780. Should be about $440USD for a good card.
