BIOS does not have an option to change RAM speed

Hello,

I bought two new RAM units for my laptop, and the problem is that my BIOS is kind of minimal, in the sense that it has extremely few options and in particular nothing that I could imagine would change the RAM speed.

My RAM actually supports a speed of 800 mHz, but currently it's running only at 533 mHz according to dmidecode. My chipset, of the Intel 965 family, should support speeds up to 800 mHz.

I should add that I run a 64 bit Linux operating system and that all of the memory is being detected and used. The memory came in two units.

I would like to somehow change the RAM speed up to 800 mHz. Is there any way to do so? Could one perhaps install a new BIOS supporting changing the RAM speed? Or is there any way to change the RAM speed using my Linux operating system?

With best regards and apologies for my not-so-funny username,

Solution
Most laptops have a locked BIOS, as far as DRAM it can only run at whatever pre-set timings and data rates available. Could look for a newer BIOS that may provide better support (but don't count on it ;) )
