The max purported resolution for DVI is 2560 x 1600 @60 Hz.

I've been trying to overclock my Benq BL2420PT but it wont even make it to 70Hz without frame skipping and Im using DVI.

Do you think a Display port cable would help with overclocking since DVI is already near its threshold with 2560x1440@60 or is this probably just the monitor struggling to overclock?

Solution
I would say yes because (2560*1600*60)/(2560*1440) = 66.67 which is about what you're at. So you could try with a DVI cable which should theoretically allow (3840*2160*60)/(2560*1440) = 135 so then it will truly be what your monitor can or can't do.
