hello all,
I have a 1 year old rig that just started to not boot.
It seems to be a heat issue, each time you turn it on consecutively, it shut off quicker each time, HEAT.

Encase link doesnt work
AMD FX9590
ASUS Crosshair V formula-Z
Corsair H100i
Roswill Thor
Raidmax RX1000AE

System never gets far enough to start loading Windows, wont allow me into BIOS, shuts down to quick.
I used ROGConnect and a laptop, system boot CPU temp shows 52c.
I dont know if this is too high.

The only way I could think to check if coolant was actually moving was with a stethoscope, I do here liquid moving on boot up, but then the fans are too loud to continually listen.

Its either the H100i isnt working or the CPU has died partially.

I have sent back and swapped the power supply, and MB.
I have also removed and reseated the CPU with new paste.

On one note I noticed upon first removal of water block that the bolts were not that tight, not as tight as I had them originally, they really should have lock nuts on these so you dont have to monitor thermal expansion contraction loosening issues.

Do you think this might have gave increased temps for a lengthy period, and damaged the CPU?

It's possible you damaged the CPU. Most modern CPUs are extremely hardy and difficult to kill, but the FX-9590 may be an exception to that. It's already running at very high frequency and voltage, and when combined with heat, can cause rapid degradation of the silicon. As you've said, you've already changed the motherboard and power supply, so this points to the CPU being damaged, so you have a couple of options here:

1) Replace it with an FX-83xx and overclock the snot out of it, since you already have the hardware for it.

2) Replace it with an Intel platform. A Core i5 would happily run quietly on its stock cooler, with a 250-300w power supply in a tiny ITX enclosure on a $50 motherboard, while providing superior performance in every way. If you sold off your existing AMD components, you might actually be able to get the entire Intel system for close to zero net cost.

Option 2 is clearly a lot more work, but it's essentially what I did a few years back, and I haven't looked back.

I find it unlikely you damaged CPU. Sounds like the cooler isn't making good contact anymore. Perhaps over time, the tension from the mounting has now caused bad contact between cooler and CPU, as you mention bolts are loose. Also possible a slow leak has occured with the AIO, so the actual amount of prefilled coolant has evaporated to some degree. I'd look at a replacement cooler if it were me since you replaced board and PSU already.

Thanks guys the cooler is under warranty so ill send it back, dumbest thing on this H100i, no clear area to check flow or volume, my last sealed system. Ill get it replaced and sell it. I think ill get a Swiftech H240 X2. I know the whole get a intel rig deal, I find it a waste of money. I build CAD Workstations at work, and I know they are big differences, I use Xeon processors, and Quadro cards at work, but its not my money. At home for games, especially with the DX coming. I find spending the difference in $ ON GPU, rather than on intel. I have 4 rigs at home 2 are i7, they are less troublesome, but not being a fan boy of anything my AMD rig @ $1500 out performs my intel rigs at higher price, on my games anyway, my single thread CAD applications way outperform on the intels though.
