Im getting a new mobo (maximus gene viii ) and cpu (6700k) and they support dual channel. I want to buy 16 gb of ram so do I have to get 2x (2x4gb) kits or can I just get a (4x4gb) kit because I would save money on that. I was watching one of linustechtips videos and he said that 4x4 will POSSIBLY work on a dual channel mobo. I just want to make sure. Thanks

4x4GB will definately work on a dual channel mobo...Best bet though for 16GB will be a 2x8GB set, 2 sticks is less stress on the MC (memory controller) than 4 sticks are. Linus is sadly lacking in knowledge on DRAM, he likes to do videos waving around sticks of DRAM and GPUs and other cards holding them in his bare hands by the Gold contacts - even novice builders generally know not to be touching the contacts, you can get oils from the skin on them which can interfere with conductivity and the life of the sticks ;)
