PC reboot loop when using 3 or more ram slots.

I recently purchased two extra 4GB sticks of ram for my PC, and the ram is identical in make and model to my existing ram. When I install the new ram onto the mobo giving a total of 4 x 4gb, i turn on the PC and it enters a loop of turning on and restarting every 10 seconds.

If I then remove 2 of the sticks it goes back to normal. I am fairly certain the problem is not in the ram or mobo's ram slots as I have mixed and matched the new and old ram in every slot and it still works fine if only 2 are installed at a time.

My ram is 4 x G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 4GB

My Motherboard is a Gigabyte ga-z77x-ud3h

Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Hi Oily_Goat :)

It is never advisable to mix DIMM kits, even of the same spec and many have this issue. Some work together but most don't.

Get a single kit of 16GB to ensure they work together.
It is in the manufacturing process that slight variations make the difference and the manufacturer tests them for matched compliance.

I do not believe this is the problem. As I said the system works fine if i have 1 stick from each DIMM kit. The problem only occurs when more than 2 sticks are involved no matter which kit they belong to.
