Is the 4690k worth keeping if I buy a 1070? (for gaming) (for 1080p)

I don't really know the difference in the high end newer cpus compared to mine when you factor in I only want to play on 1080p.

I mainly ask because I want my pc to be ready for No man's sky, or similar games, and not stutter at all.

I currently have a 970, but I feel its nearing the end of its life anyway, since I got it near when it came out. Sorry if this is a mess to read.

Just not sure if the 4690k will bottleneck the 1070 to a noticeable degree.

Solution
Skylake, Intel's newest architecture, is 5-10% faster per clock, which will be unnoticeable. If your 4690K bottlenecks you in a game, there really isn't a CPU that wouldn't.

More to the point. No man's sky has a min system requirement of a GTX 480 which is now handily beat by the GTX 950. That particular game is a title developed more for Sony's console and has lower requirements than some other titles coming. Even so, at 1080P I see no reason the spend money on a 1070 unless competitive FPSing at 144hz. Even so then, if you are set for SLI, another 970 under $250 makes more sense.
