I recently had someone put together a PC for me with the following specs

Motherboard: Asrock H97M-ITX/ac
CPU: Intel i5 4670k
CPU Cooler: Stock
GPU: Zotac Geforce 980Ti Amp! Edition
RAM: Evga 16gb DDR3
PSU: Corsair CX750m
Case: Coolermaster Elite 130 Mini ITX

Just to point out, there is no overclock on my cpu (come to think of it, I'm not even sure if the motherboard the guy put in supports overclocking...) and yet temps in games like GTA V an Witcher 3 can hit nearly 90 degrees! I don't know what to do. There have already been a number of crashes where my pc automatically reboots due to high cpu temps in game. I've also gone into my motherboard bios and set the fan to be on full speed at all times but nothing seems to work. Are these normal temps with a stock cooler (and a small mini-itx form factor) or is there something wrong with my cpu? (Also, during idle, the cpu stays around 45-50 degrees).

My first guess is that the cooler isn't installed well. Check that all 4 mounting feet are flat on the motherboard. If one is loose, cooling will suffer. If you suspect that is the problem, twist each post's black thumb tab CCW individually and pull up while keeping pressure against the cooler so it doesn't pull away from the CPU. Then twist the thumb tab CW and press it back down to lock it. You should hear/feel a 'click'. Check that the white foot is firmly against the board. You can also look at the back of the board and check that the black post is properly spreading the white grips, locking it behind the board.

Next, check that the cooler's fan is actually spinning. Check that it is plugged into the fan header marked CPU FAN.

Thank you so much for replying. Am I supposed to twist the pins in the direction pointed by the arrows on the stock cooler? Because I just did that and temps still seem just about the same.
