r9 390x + GTX 750

Solution
The date for the 314.22 drivers is March 25, 2013. Arma 3 was released on September 12, 2013, so I am not sure. They may be compatible, but I can't really tell for sure. I would give it a go anyway. But don't be disappointed when it doesn't work. Obviously the best solution here is to buy a new Nvidia graphics card for physX. I'm sure with a 390x you can't be missing out on much :p

My advice is those setups are kinda problematic. They will work fine, but a bit silly. They are only useful if you already have an ATi card, and want physX. If you are buying new just get a Nvidia card and have done with it.

Like it'll work and all just fine. Any Nvidia card from 8800gt and up (or 8600 gs I can't remember) will work fine as a dedicated physX. Price/Performance goes through the roof though.

Sorry I should have clarified. I already have both cards

I have unselected the solution as it is incorrect.

You cannot run an AMD card as your main card and a Nvidia card to run PhysiX. Nvidia has specifically blocked this in their drivers and it has been that way for a long while. If you wanted to do this you would need to get a Nvidia card as your main card.

The only way these two can work together is using DX12 multi-adapter, of which only 1 game (Ashes of the Singularity) supports it. I would never spend money based on this, it is only supported when programmed specifically in game, and who knows how much support it will eventually have.

If you roll-back the Nvidia drivers to 314.22 or something. It works with the 700 series. OP will hardly see a performance increase with the newer drivers anyway if its just a physX card. Although you lose the newer version of physX, so games like Arkham Origins will not work with the previous version of physX.

So it is very much possible, and if he has the 750 lying around I see no problem with him using it anyway.

Yes, as I said it worked, with old drivers, but it has been blocked for quite a while. At this point with such old drivers its completely impractical if you want to properly run anything DX 12 and even many DX 11 games.

There is a reason it was removed.

Hes just using it for physX. The real processing will be used with the main GPU. Newer games don't use much physX anyway. The Nvidia drivers won't affect AMDs. If he already has the 750, he might as well use it. There is no performance penalty for using it, thats for sure.

As much as I like the idea of not leaving any stone unturned, Hybrid PhysX should not really be an option. I'm all for it if you already have a Nvidia card (like I mentioned before, just about any will do, from 8600GS to the 700-series. It is outdated, and should never be an option when exploring ways to build a PC. It won't run on new games, and you do have to go through a series of patches. It will be pretty good for OP, seeing has he already has the 750, but apart from that, we should leave the topic, and let it gather dust.

For conventional use, Rogue Leader is right.

I know, but I only recommended it because he already had the card. Hybrid PhysX is no longer supported. If it works in these specific cases, I will recommend it. However for the usual purpouse of buying information, or simply as a question, I will not. It now only works in a very specific niche, so unless you like playing Lego Star Wars too much, your options are very limited.

/thread.

Lego Star Wars is not a GPU accelerated PhysX game. The big ones on that list are:. Fallout 4, Borderlands series, Metro series, Batman Arkham series, COD: Ghosts, Mafia series, Unreal Tournament, Assassin's Creed Black Flag, and Mirror's Edge.

A dedicated PhysX card will usually provide some boost on most of those games. But the real answer is, don't buy an AMD card if you think you might want to play one of those games without having to compromise on the graphics settings.
