Hey guys,

It's a fairly old desktop (like 10 years old) so I can't complain much. I just opened it up to try remove the DVD writer (it wasn't working, and i couldn't remove it anyway) and now my PC wont boot up now!

The motherboard LED lights up, and my fans start running; however they keep stopping as well in random intervals. There's no display on my monitor either. All cables were secure and tight. Could anyone figure this out? Or is my desktop dead for good D:?

Shut off and unplug your computer remove your ram sticks then reinstall them.
If that don't work your MB may have zapped. You may want to look at the PSU [power supply] use a PSU tester most computer stores have them and will test at no cost to you.

Good luck

I tried to take out all the ram sticks and reinstall them, but that didn't work. I had a spare PSU (an old one I used to use which I replaced with a 450W, working condition). I switched it out and it still gave the same problem. The fans keep stopping and starting randomly :(

Is my motherboard dead? The LED still lights up though

Thanks for your help

Well, I booted it up after about 4 hours while it was powered off and it worked! Can this explain anything? Also I had some sorta "Diskette drive 0 Seek Failure" on the boot.

Thanks for your help
