Do you mean that your pc does not support optical drive? You can just buy a external one and plug into the usb port of your case.

You need an optical drive only if you use CD's or DVD's. Most things can be done directly online, or with a USB.
Many people don't have a optical drive.

Not required, and totally up to you if you want to install one.

I would say no. Most of the pc gamers today get their games from retailers like "Steam" or "Ubisoft". But optical drives can be useful at sometimes for example playing older games and installing drivers wtihout internet connection etc...
