i5 4690k or i5 6600k

I am currently deciding whether I should upgrade to (from i5 4590) to an i5 4690k or an i5 6600k. I live near a Microcenter so the 4690k would only cost around 200$ and the 6600k is only around 210$. Is the performance much better in the 6600k? Thanks.

If you feel you must upgrade get 4690k. A 6600k would require a new motherboard, ram, and possibly a new windows license. Imho the performance difference either way is not worth the cost.

If you are currently running i5 4590 the i5 4960k is not at all considered as an upgrade as the performance gain will be marginal. As for the 6600k its of a totally different generation of intel processor that uses LGA 1151 socket which is different from the one used by i5 4590 and 4690k so you cant upgrade to 6600k unless you are planning to change your MOBO too.

skylake processors use LGA1151 socket not LGA1150.
