Hey! Today I bought a new gpu and while in the shop I decided to buy new thermal paste as well. After I applied the the thermal paste and installed the gpu I also used compressed air to blow off the dust off my computer. After this I tried to boot up my computer but nothing happened. I thought the problem might be in the installation of the gpu and I replaced it with my old one and it still didnt boot up. So this leaves me wondering if I applied the thermal paste wrong or did I break something while using the compressed air evne tho I used kinda far away and gently. I am not sure but I think the problem is with the thermal paste that I applied. I tried to take off the old thermal paste with paper towel and some of it came off. Could this have damaged my cpu? Or is the old thermal paste under the new one causing the problem? And if so, how do I fix this? Can I take the fan off and remove all of the thermal paste using real methods like with some sort of alcohol I found on google. Thanks I know I am a total idiot when it comes to these things and propably should let someone else do these things.

There is a button on your power supply, check if it's "on" and check if it is on the right voltage (110v, 220v, whatever). Depending on you Motherboard, it probably uses 2 cables, one in the right part and the other near the CPU, check them too. Also, try to take out all your ram sticks and try one by one in every slot, this way: Turn the computer off, take out the ram sticks, put the stick 1 in the slot 1, turn on. If it doesn't work, turn off and try stick one in slot 2, turn on....

Air is a not a good heat conductor, the thermal paste replaces it, you can only break a PC with thermal paste if you apply it wrongly and it falls into the socket or if there isn't enough and you CPU overheats. Also, I want details of the boot, does the fans spin ? Do you have some evidence that the PC tries to boot but can't boot ? Did you check the cables ?

I took off the fan and the heatsink and after cleaning the old thermal paste I put a small amount of thermal paste in the middle. After that I pressed the heatsink on top of it. I tried to follow an instruction video as close as possible.

From what I saw nothing spilled or dropped on to the motherboard. No none of the fans spin because the pc wont start at all, and yes, I checked all the cables the best I could.
