Hey Guys!
These might be really dumb questions, I couldn't find a definitive answer to this, so I'd really appreciate an explanation.

I do a lot of sim racing. I'm setting up a pretty awesome rig right now. I have (3) Samsung KS8000 4k 49" TVs that I want to hook up to my rig. They are petty decent for gaming, input lag is low, response time is acceptable as well. I want to play in 12k if it's possible.

I currently have a pc with (2) EVGA GTX 1080 FTW in SLI.

I'm wondering if it's better forget about SLI, add a 3rd 1080 GPU, beef up my MoBo, get the 5820K processor and run the whole thing without SLI. Money is not a concern. I want to connect each TV to each GPU separately. Is this possible? Will this work properly? I'm wondering if there will be some type of syncing issues.

Another reason I want to connect them individually is because of the lack of Displayport connection on the TV. I have to use a Displayport 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 active adapter, so that I can plug it in to my first GPU. These adapters are never perfect, and I feel like it only adds lag, and causes flickering etc.

I've seen videos on people playing Battlefront on max settings getting over 60fps with only one GTX 1080. I just need it to run at 60fps on sim racing games. I want to know if there is some type of bottle neck that I'm not considering.

Thank you in advance!

Without DX12 support, the definitive answer is NO since DX11 games can not render on more than one adapter without SLI and driver support, when any of these games get DX12 support then the answer becomes a YES you can do it, i am not sure if it is possible with 3 cards though so someone else with more knowledge about DX12 Explicit Multi Adapter can shed more light on the issue.

It would be a neat idea. But at the moment no. Besides that, i dont think you can do 3 gtx 1080's without sli of sim racing. Does that game support DX12. If so, you can. But if not, then you need the sli bridge.

I'm playing, Assetto Corsa, Project Cars, and iRacing. So if they support DX12 I can do it? What part is limiting this type of setup if you can quickly educate me please.

I am not sure if what you are trying to do would work reliably or at all, but if money is really not an issue why not get two New Pascal Titan X and SLI them? that should do 12K just fine in DX11 and DX12 and would sure give you much more than 60FPS in 12K.

None of these games support DX12 yet, so you can not use more than one GPU with them without SLI, when DX12 comes to these games which is planned for Project Cars for example, you can use DX12 Explicit Multi Adapter to render the game on more than one GPU without SLI.

To be honest with what is available and mature in the current market all you can do is either 1080 SLI or Pascal Titan X SLI which would cost you $2400 but should achieve your performance target in 12K very effectively.

Hey thanks for your input. The performance on the new Titan is 24% better than 1080.

I'm just wondering if I run 3 GTX 1080 individually, no SLI (if they are able to run at full capacity) that would be a 50% increase.

I currently have (3) 34" Asus PG348Q monitors with about 5k resolution total. It runs racing games with max settings at around 80fps with my SLI. I need more POWER lol.

This is all a questionmark though. I'm hoping someone has a definitive answer to this.

That makes my decision a lot easier now. I wasn't aware of the new Titan until you mentioned it to me. I think that's the most sensible decision at the moment. I don't want build a monster computer, only to have it not work with most of the games I play, aka Monster Brick.

I agree, two new Pascal Titans with an HB SLI Bridge (High Bandwidth bridge not the standard one) is the most reliable solution to achieve your performance target in current and future technology situations, be it DX11 or DX12, you would be able to run racing sim games on 12K@60FPS without a problem, it is the most expensive setup, but the most reliable one when money is not an issue, good luck :)
