Hello Toms!

I have been lurking here for years, but this is the first time I have posted. I can usually find the answers myself, but this issue has been troubling me for 2 years with no resolution.

I have a normal Dual Monitor setup with my main display being an AOC 27" LED IPS Widescreen Monitor and the second an old DELL 17" LCD from 2001. Everything works great except one thing.

Whenever I go to move a window on the main AOC monitor, the monitor Splits into two displays. It splits into "Display 1" and "Display 2" and the old DELL has a Green 1 and will only let me drop the window onto one of these three displays, and then it snaps it to fit that display full screen (leaving the other half of my screen empty).

Its not Aero, and I have looked everywhere in my Graphics settings to no avail. It makes it to where I cannot manually resize a window, or drop it where I want it. I have Aero turned off.

Here is a picture of what I mean:

What is not pictured there is my second monitor, which displays the GREEN 1 at that moment.

Hopefully someone here can shed some light on this issue for me, as it is driving me nuts! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post!

Usually a screen error that can be fixed easily.

Step 1: Right-click in an open space on your desktop. Select the "Screen Resolution" option in the menu.

Step 2: Click on the second display and go down to the multiple displays setting.

Step 3: Choose which one will suite you best. (Usually Extend these displays, But it can be different.)

Try that, if it doesn't work, talk to me again.

This is how I already had it set up, and Have tried every possible combination. Unfortunately this didnt work. I am pretty sure it is a windows feature, because with the graphics drivers completely uninstalled, it still splits the screen when moving a window. Thanks for answering though!

Thanks for replying. I used DDU as you suggested and uninstalled the AMD drivers and rebooted. Upon rebooting, with the AMD drivers no longer installed, the screen still splits into 2 displays. It seems this may be some kind of Windows Setting. I downloaded the proper drivers from AMD website, but have no installed them yet. I figure it would be easier to troubleshoot this issue without them installed for now, since the issue is still happening, without them installed.

Yes, there was, it was C:\AMD\Support\ This folder was the only thing in the AMD directory, and inside it was the Driver installation file, setup.exe with supporting files.

I deleted the entire AMD folder.

Tried this again, this time using the "Safe Mode" Startup feature of DDU and it worked this time. Seems there may have been a driver that the normal mode of DDU couldnt delete.

Thanks you so much!

Steps:
1. Uninstalled Catalyst using the Catalyst uninstaller, rebooted.
2. Used DDU in its "Safe mode" mode and cleaned the drivers out, rebooted.
3. Uninstalled all of Microsoft .NET Framework (was having a random CLIimplementation error)

Solved no more crazy double desktop! Thanks, weberdarren97!
