Motherboard - MSI z97 Gaming 5
CPU - Intel i7 4790k @ standard clock - hyper 212 evo aftermarket cooler
GPU - EVGA gtx980 @ factory overclock
PSU - Corsair CX750M
8GB DDR3 RAM

Windows 7

I've had this setup over a year now and have had almost no problems, nothing even remotely like this. Started about a week ago- when gaming, during an intense load (yet same load i have had no problems with all year) the computer might cut to black and die, no blue screen of death, before restarting in five seconds, as if all power is cut to it.

First thinking it was a heating issue, I cleaned out all the dust from the case, reapplied thermal paste and set up again- problem persists. Having ran temperature tests for both CPU and GPU playing games i found the crashes to sometimes happen, such as Dragon Age Inquisition or Wither 3 (again games i have played all year without issue) and found the temps to be nothing unusual at all- 50-60°c under load for processor and never over 78° for my graphics card, again under load. Stress testing showed no issues.

Though not recalling installing any new drivers (sound and video) or updating within even two months past, i thought it could be a driver issue and updated, problem persists, then reverting to an even earlier version, again no change.

Looking online there are calls of a power issue, but my PSU gives plenty of power for my needs, and has given no trouble so far. Though i do suppose power units can die out the blue I want to look for any other option to fix of course. Tried using the computer from another plug across the house, no luck there either.

Crashes come without warning, could be anywhere between 2 minutes and two hours of game time- being a computer made for gaming it is a tad annoying. Looking in the event log its described as a Windows Kernel event ID 41 error; "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first"... no blue screen means this is as much diagnostic of the crash itself as i can get i imagine...

It's a bit of a head scratcher, I'll appreciate any help and can run any tests appropriate.

Thanks.

Well i switched with my brothers, I'll take a few hours to say if things change. All i can say right now is thank god those things are modular, hard enough switching it out in a 'compact' case like my own.
I was under the impression corsair brand PSU are among the best though, no?
