I have tried everything in the book, Disabling my firewall, Making sure my proxy box is un-checked,
and doing virus scans. Can someone help me? I have spent hours trying to fix this thing.

Solution
Check that the date/time (including timezone) is set correctly. Secure connections rely upon time to ensure connections are "current" and this can cause issues with connections.

You are accessing the 'Net, because you were able to download FF (I assume from the problem system).

All my systems connect properly except that laptop. The laptop Is currently on a wireless network but refused to work when on a wired connection. The system has 1GB DDR2 memory, And a Intel Celeron M 420 Cpu clocked @ 1.6 GHz. The web browser will connect to some websites but most give me a error message.

I scanned for any viruses/malware and removed them. And for my browser, Internet explorer 7. This computer was put away for this problem and just now I am trying to revive it. I have reset Internet explorer to factory defaults.

Thanks! Who knew a simple date could affect your computer like mine. I guess when it was in storage it's internal battery died.
