Razer Naga Hex works on and off, cable heats up and requires positioning

So I've had my Razer Naga Hex Red for quite a while, and it's been a reliable gaming mouse in its life. However, just starting today, the mouse works and doesn't and it's a bit annoying. I'll be playing, and the mouse will work, then not, then work, then not. When it does, it lights up and tracks like usual but when it's off the mouse essentially turns off but now the cable and rubber cover that bridge the cable to the mouse get very hot (which is from, what I'm assuming, a faulty connection). I took the mouse apart and air sprayed the inside and cleaned it with alcohol just to rule that out but no cigar. However, through fiddling with the mouse, I found it only works when the wire is wiggled into a certain position and left that way. As I type this, my mouse has been on the entire time sitting still, but as I move it (right now) it shuts off after a bit of use. So if I'm right and it's just the cables not being fully connected, how would I go about fixing it (I have a soldering kit and tools and stuff)?

Solution
If the cable gets hot stop using it immediately. There is a short in the cable and that will destroy not only your mouse, but your USB ports too!

Unless the mouse has a removable cable, it's time for a new mouse

I thought as much, I just didn't want to hear it I guess. It had a good 3 year life so I'm not complaining. Think I might get a DeathAdder Chroma, heard it was a really good FPS mouse.

I have an older version of the mouse and it served me well for a few years. You should take a look at the logitech G502 as well, I find their mice a bit better for my holding style

My friend has it and says it's really nice, I just don't know if I'm convinced to shell out an additional $30 for it. Either one is better than my Naga so it's a step up either way (and a giant leap from the Logitech Trackball I'm stuck using atm)
