Hello, I have lag spikes when I am gaming. I've figured it out, that it's not the RAM or the heat of my processor. I have installed all of my drivers and there is barely dust in my PC.
So I'm gonna take Star Wars Battlefront as an example:
Every time when I start up the game, my CPU percentage gets up to around 96% (sometimes even 99%).
After starting up, I am in the menus (of course). Than my CPU is around 50%.
When in the loading screen, it takes up to 60%-70% again.
So, just before the level is loaded completely, the CPU gets up to 80%/90%.
When the level is loaded, it shows the menu where you can pick your weapon etc. Just the first 2 seconds when that screen/menu appears, the CPU gets up to 96%/99%.
So if I press "START" (when you spawn in the game), it also gets to 96%/99%.
Playing the game, the CPU usage is around the 66%-86%, but peeks up sometimes to 96%/99%.
The lag spikes appear when loading, sometimes spawning and when I die, and see the kill cam. I think all of these are points of loading. Sometimes I've also lag spikes when something "big" happens, like a big explosion. And sometimes the lag spikes are just really random in the middle of walking around or looking to another direction.
It's not that I have the lag spikes every 1 minute or so, but particularly on these points.
However, when I have the lag spikes, there are no big frame drops what ever, the screen just freezes for around 0.5/1 second or so.
Does anyone know if the high CPU usage causing the lag spikes? Or if that high CPU usage when gaming is a problem?
It's not only in Battlefront, it's in all the games I play (also GTA V and Battlefield 4, even Minecraft sometimes).
My PC:
Intel i5 4460.
MSI Nvidia Geforce GTX 960 4 GB.
8GB Ram.
MSI H97 Gaming 3 Motherboard.
1000 GB HDD.
250 EVO Samsung SSD.
