Solution

Hi,

The problem is the 1060, it does not support SLI. So if you want in the future to have 2 GPUs then you will need to buy 1070 or better and replace the 1060. Below is another build (same as the old one except PSU & MB changed to lower the price & this MB support SLI & higher RAM speeds up to 3400-3600)

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-6400 2.7GHz Quad-Core Processor ($179.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD3 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($112.98 @ Newegg)
Memory:...

Hi,

Will everyone is fanboy for a brand, but the AMD suggestion because you didnt specify if you ordered the 1060 and asked for 500$ budget which is no way to fit intel build with that amount. Since you ordered the GPU and like Intel below is what I think can be a good parts:

CPU: Intel Core i5-6400 2.7GHz Quad-Core Processor ($179.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: MSI B150 Gaming M3 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($101.88 @ OutletPC)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($67.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($60.00 @ Amazon)
Case: Corsair SPEC-01 RED ATX Mid Tower Case ($39.98 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: EVGA 850W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($69.99 @ Newegg)

You can replace the RAM for 8GB instead but 16 is better to make sure you wont run out of RAM if needed.

Hi,
I am going to explain it from NVidia website (http://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/sli/faq#c1) in short version :

Q) What is NVIDIA® SLI® technology? How does it work?
Combining multiple NVIDIA graphics solutions in a single system with an NVIDIA SLI-Certified motherboard.

Q) How much of a performance increase will I see with SLI technology?
2 GPUs will increase in performance 2 times
3 GPUs will increase in performance up to 2.8x

SLI will be helpful for applications running at higher resolutions with higher image quality settings will benefit most.

There are alot of things in SLI world, but for most of us single strong GPU is enough but if you to get better berformance and youdont want to replace the GPU you have and you have what you need to (SLI or CrossFire) then you can get another one and boost the performance.

your going to have to pulls some tricks to get a $500 build to play gta V. I would advise saving some more ($1000 ish total) and build a good pc. youl be happy you did. i started with a 500-700 budget but got fed up with the cheap shit i bought (rma's and other problems) so went with what i really wanted and im so glad i did. regardless i spent about 1200 but i got the full package. You need to start with what cpu you want, then pick a mobo, then a graphics card, then everything else thats applicable. if you already have a gpu then 200 should go to cpu, 120 to mobo, 60 to ram, 150 to hd, 50 to case, 20 to cdrom, 80 to psu, 100 for monitor, 60 mouse/keyboard, 80 for batterybackup ,.....dude your under budget for waht you want. save up more, trust me

heres what i have : http://pcpartpicker.com/list/DwFRBP
Heres my stats: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3137029/4690k-overclocked-5ghz-screenshot.html

you do what you want, but i mean if you want a Ferrari then buy the ferrari. dont buy a mr2 and put a ferarri kit on it. comprende'? to me it just looks like you want whatever has the biggest numbers. in that case check out the intel xeon series.

i just realized you already bought the gtx 1080. thats an 800$ gpu. you already fucked your self into being required to get a high end cpu now otherwise its going to bottle neck.

I wouldn't really worry about SLI support. Save money on the motherboard and get a SSD and I think you'll be happier. This is very similar IceMyth's build using amazon.in pricing, a cheaper motherboard, and an additional SSD.

It is a high speed hard drive that you would generally install your OS and applications on. Your data would go on the slower standard hard drive. The SSD will speed up your boot time and load times by a significant amount.

ive got the 120gb ssd just for the OS only. boot up times and over os speed is awesome. you can get the 240gb and im sure itd be plenty, i just got the 120gb since i was on a budget. got a 1tb hdd for all my games. ssd is "solid state drive" so no moving parts. hdd has a disc that spins and takes a little extra time to load stuff. theres not a noticeable difference in gaming. only OS operations.
