Just got an LG 34UM67 and it looks great. In the process of shopping for a graphics card to power the beast well into the future. Am looking for gameplay at 60+ FPS. Thinking of getting an RX480 but I'm not sure if it has enough juice... any suggestions?

Solution
It should do pretty well. I had a 970 driving an ultra wide at that res and kept over 60 on everything. The division maxed out would never do below 50.
A 480 should perform a touch better than that.

In some games you might see 60+ FPS, but the detail levels plays a large role on frame rates. A 4GB card would be sufficient. AMD Fury X with 4GB of memory nets higher FPS than 8GB RX480 so 8GB at 4K isn't needed though it may be used by video card if available. A wider 1080 monitor won't tax it much more than the standard 1920x1080 resolution. You will see higher FPS with Vulkan API titles and in some cases DX12 games.

Sorry I should have added that clause. I'm going for the 8gb model.

Assuming everything is maxed out.

My 390 does this if it helps at 2560x1080:

Witcher 3 - high/ultra, all PP max = 60FPS locked
Far Cry 4 - mostly ultra, NVidia GW off - 60fps
Doom - nightmare settings vulkan, 85fps
Just cause 3 - maxed - 65fps (40fps min)
Rise of TR - mixed high settings, 60fps

The 480 should match those, although I have a 10% oc on the 390.

I'm sure the others have answered your question sufficiently by now but might as well add my 2 cents.

I'm running an r9 390 with the lg 29um67 (your monitor's smaller brother) and for the most part I can run everything maxed out with no issues so I can't imagine the 480 being much different.

There are demanding titles that are the exception but imo dropping a few settings for the extra fps boost is totally worth it. I'm sure there's plenty of channels on youtube that could show you how the 480 performs specifically at that resolution. Also good call on getting the 8gb variant-on rise of the tomb raider (dx12) I've hit almost 7gb vram usage.
