Hello! Just today my 980ti started making this strange rattling noise, I've had it for about 7 months now and the only problem i noticed when i first got it was some slight coil whine when i didn't vsync my games and my frames went up really high. I have a video of what the rattling noise sounds like and where it is coming from, it's coming from the rear and i did some research and apparently people say its the fins that could possibly be causing the problem but it wasn't. The fins aren't located in the rear, which is where the rattling noise is coming from, the fins are in the front, i noticed one fin slightly bent, i bent it straight and the rattling noise continued. I unplugged the power to the 980ti and the rattling noise continued, can anyone tell me what the crap is going on with my card? I don't really think it's the pump either, i listened to the pump and i didn't hear anything. But one thing i did notice about the pumps is that one feels like it's running full speed and the other one feels like it's barely running. The pipe running from the gpu to the pump runs feels like it runs faster, and the pipe from the pump to the gpu feels like it's running very slow, idk if that's normal or not or if that could lead to the source of my problem. Someone please help me out

How old is it? Should still be under warranty, I would RMA it. It does not sound like that pump is long for this world. Send EVGA that video if they ask, im sure you will have no issue getting a replacement while its making a noise like that.

If not (let me do a bit of research on this) I believe other than that cooler the 980 ti hybrid is an nvidia reference card, in that case a reference air cooler should bolt right on, worst case scenario if the pump completely dies.

The only moving parts in that card are the pump and the fan, sounds like the pump to me but I guess it could be the fan. I initially thought inductor noise or coil whine but I have never heard it sound like that. Im pretty sure the pump is making that noise, if your sure its not then its the fan, nothing else on that gpu is capable of making a noise like that.

Yeah the pump should be right over the gpu core, you should be able to clearly tell if the pump is making the noise if you take the top off. Looks like the top comes right off without having to unbolt the water block from this picture.

Yeah im not sure what would cause that in a closed loop cooler sounds like the pump bearing might be wearing out, it does it constantly now?

Well the good news is you should still be under warranty. I would call EVGA and see what they say, I don't believe there customer service center is open today, should be open tomorrow at 9AM pacific time.

Ok, so the rattling just randomly stopped when i booted up my pc during lunch lol. But now im hearing an odd buzzing noise in my left ear on my headphones, it's a problem after a problem, my soundblaster z audio card is right next to my gpu so i don't know if that has anything to do with it

Actually no, the pump died, my gpu now idles at 66 c and and maxload temps are 90 and above, i can hear the fan it's loud and it sounds terrible now that the pump broke, definitely going to have to rma it
