I'm replacing my PSU cos it blew up, some slots with the same number of pins, know it shouldn't really matter with most, but since wires are mostly hidden by pc parts, would it destroy my pc if i accidentally plugged cpu wire into peripheral slot or vice versa? as i believe both are 6 pin

Solution
Each wire on the PSU has a different voltage, so make sure you plug them into the right slot.

It is pretty clear what one goes were. For example the CPU wire should have an 8 pin connector (usually split into 2 x 4pins) and the GPU one is 1/2 8 pin (usually split into 6 + 2 pins).
