Hi all,

I have just installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on my desktop pc. It was working fine, no problems, until I tried installing my Nvidia graphics drivers. After installing the drivers I'm asked to reboot Windows and when I choose yes, Windows freezes at the "Starting Windows" screen and rebootsa while later (about 20 seconds after the freeze). Windows works fine in Safe mode, so I deleted my graphics drivers. Windows will boot with no problems after that. The problem is that I can't play any games without graphics drivers and I do want them to work properly.

Things I've tried:
Deleting my drivers with DDU (I get an error telling me to send logs to the developer)
Clean installing Nvidia drivers
Installing older versions of Nvidia drivers
Installing Newer/beta versions of Nvidia drivers

specs:
4GB ram
Nvidia Quadro NVS 290
Intel Core duo 2
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

P.S. Before you ask, yes I have read all threads regarding this problem, and none of the solutions have worked for me

P.P.S. Please try to provide a solution that doesn't involve taking apart my pc/removing any parts

Solution
Last try before clean installing windows:
Boot into safe mode and remove the drivers. Boot into windows normally and clear the registry. Reboot PC.
This time before installing your drivers disable all the antivirus/antispyware apps you have and then install the drivers.
Rather than letting the installer reboot click on restart later or so and manually reboot your system. See if anything changes. But before rebooting make sure that any boot time antivirus scan is disabled.

Cleaned my registry, and installed my drivers. Installation program prompted me to restart my pc, and to my surprise, it booted correctly. However, when Windows was fully booted, the Nvidia installation program automatically started and started installing my drivers again(?) and prompted me to restart Windows yet again. After this restart (the second one) Windows is yet again in the infinite boot loop.

That's a pretty old card from 2009, Vista era. It's so slow I doubt you will do much gaming. G3D Passmark is 98. Any drivers will be for Vista and must be loaded in compatibility mode. No guarantees it will be compatible, though.

Sometimes trying to get these old graphics cards going is too much pain and it's better to get a newer one with Win7 drivers. Thanks to gamers, graphics cards have gotten much faster in the last few years. A low cost recent card with Win 7 drivers might be a smart buy. Something like an Nvidia 730 based card would cost say $45, have Win 7 drivers and be 9 times faster. What is your time worth? Do you really expect to play games with a slow graphics card from 2009?
