Hi,
I'm looking for a good 1000 euro PC (price must include a 1080p 60hz monitor, and network card) for some video editing, 3d rendering and gaming.
I'm hoping to buy something before the new year (laptop is dying).

I'm going to probably go with RX 480 (~210 from newegg.ie, but out of stock), as I get the feeling that the extra 2GB of video-ram over a 1060 will be worth it. If I can get a really cheap 970, I'll go for that instead. In terms of CPU, I'd like to get the most powerful I can, so probably an i7? Maybe? I heard that Zen was launching this Autumn, so that might drive down prices. Personaly, I'd prefer to get a 2 or 3 generation old i7 over an i5, and in terms of the other bits and bobs, if it works, that's good enough for me (willing to buy some parts used/refurbished if I can a good bit (-10%/20%).

Anyone got reccomendations?

And when should I buy? I'm worried that if I the pieces one by one, I won't try them out for a few months, and could potentially be losing out on warranty/returns period. Amazon.co.uk, ebay, and newegg are probably the best stores, though some of the other amazons are badly priced.

Thanks!

2GB of vram will make 0 difference for the 1080p gaming. Even 6 are a bit overkill for foreseeable future.
I'd recommend to get a nice custom GTX 1060 (like EVGA GTX 1060 SC Gaming http://www.newegg.com/global/ie/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487260&cm_re=gtx_1060-_-14-487-260-_-Product ) since they are priced lower than decent custom RX 480 from sapphire.
Under an circumstances don't by reference RX 480.
you can probably fit an i7+b150MB +8-16GB ram into your budget with some SSD and decent PSU.
Basically you have no use for separate parts, so buy them when you have the budget. There will be black friday/cyber monday sale, and then Christmas sales, and befor that back to school sale.
IMHO in a couple of months, when there are plenty of both RX 480 and GTX 1060, you will be able to get a really good card for decent price.

Tbh, I'm more worried about CPU than graphics, since both the 1060 and the 480 are excellent value cards, and more than powerful enough for me, so no worries there.

let's play a game.
220 for a GPU, 300 for a CPU (i7) + 100 for a MB + 50 for 8GB RAM + 60 for a psu + 50 for a case + 100 for SSD.
those above are a bit with over - you still have over 150 for the monitor.
YOU CAN FIT WHAT YOU ASKED INTO 1000EURO.
just wait for sales and get the best parts for your money.

When you look at it that way... Dang. Nice stuff.

Personally,, I think I'd go for a big HDD and get an SSD at a later date, give me a few extra $$$ for CPU/RAM.
Then again, I have yet to experience the glory of an SD, so I might regret it later on.

In terms of CPU, 6700k, 4790k and 4770k are all roughly in the 300 euro price range. Which would you think is best, performance wise? Any other CPU to ad to the list?

Since you are getting them for the same price (actually on newegg.ie the 6700K was cheapest) it's not really important.
also, due to the more choice in components like MB and RAM, go with the latest.
Also, while K is nice, it also requires a more expensive Z170 MB and a more expensive cooling.
May be, you should get the Z170 MB, but start with normal non K i7. at some point later you can easily upgrade.

Personaly, I'd prefer to spend a bit more now, rather than pay roughly double over a longer period. Imo, a CPU should last the life of a PC, since sockets change quite regularily (at least as I understand).

I think that PSU should outlive everything else :)
The CPU is an easy part to upgrade. you can always sell yours and get the one you want.
That's why I suggested not to save on MB. It is more complicated (due to windows licensing) and more hard to find.
While I'd easily go for second hand CPU, I'd not do that with MB.

Also, monitor is included (Asus 1080p 60hz), so overall not bad?

well ... good start :)
Pick Z170 MB that is ~100 euro. It's not a good idea to pick MB more expensive than your GPU.
Get the 120-250GB SSD (~100eouro will buy 250GB), 60GB is wasted money.
If you still have money to spend, invest in monitor or better PSU or cool mouse and or keyboard

The MB is actually only 150 from newegg.ie, and I'd rather get a smaller SSD for use as a boot drive, rather than investing in a bigger one, but if I can find one around ~50 euros I'd go for that. Back to the drawing board, gotta to refine this thing!
EDIT: I thought newegg.ie was an Irish branch, but it is actually just a currency converter for the US site, which means import tax. Not even possible, then. I need to redo the entirety of my build with EU prices :(

CPU: i7 6700k (310 euros)
Motherboard: Asus Z170-A (130 euros)
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport LT DDR4 16GB (4x4GB) DIMM 288-pin 2400 MHz/PC4-19200 CL16 1.2V unbuffered Crucial Ballistix Sport LT DDR4

GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 1060 TURBO 6GB (230 euros)
Case: Cit spectre white (40 euros)
Monitor: Asus 24 inch 1ms 60hz
PSU: Corsiar 550w 80 plus bronze PSU (50 euros)
CPU Cooler: ??? (can't spend more than 30-40 on it)

All new parts, all from european sellers. Any suggestions?

How much space does Windows 10 take up? I need to also have at least 30-50 GB for Arch and my most used programs.
