Hello!

My wife's MSI has completely died - the motherboard's grounding circuit and power adapter literally went up in smoke. However, the RAM chips are still good. My daughter has a Toshiba laptop that is ridiculously slow. I was wondering, given the model #'s below, can the memory from the MSI be moved to the Toshiba to help speed it up? Both machines are 100% factory stock, no adjustments.

MSI: MSI Computer Corp. Notebook GT70 0ND-492US;9S7-17212-492 17.3-Inch Laptop:

Toshiba: toshiba satellite c655-S5082:

I'm familiar with transferring the RAM, I just need to know if it will work in the Toshiba.

Thanks!

Solution
I would just try it and see what happens. Worst case scenario is that it won't boot. They both use DDR3 1600, but the Toshiba specs do say a max of 4 GB's is supported. Some laptops are able to use more even with this disclaimer.

"Memory5
• Configured with 2GB DDR3 (max 4GB, works at 800MHz)
• 2 main memory slots accessible from the bottom. One slot occupied. "
