Been running dual or more displays on a single card since the Geforce 2 days (16 years ago). You can even run dual or more displays on most igpus for 10 years.. So any semi recent card can run more than one monitor with no issue at all.

I am running a 50 inch 1080 and a 25 inch 1080 displays on my older Hd6970. no problems. I have been using dual monitors for 15 years. pretty much any recent (8 years) video card can run two monitors, just game on one. if you are talking gaming on dual screens then I would suggest a card per monitor (ala SLI or xfire).

It all depends on the GPU. In my tower, I can run 4 monitors on each of the 2 video cards (GPU's) for 8 monitors total. On my laptop I can run 4 monitors +1 (5 total) including the screen built into the laptop.
