I have an Asus x99A-USB3.1 board with an Intel i7 6800k using 32 gb of Corsair Vengance LPX ram (4x8gb) 2666mHz. On some boots BIOS is seeing two of the sticks as only 4gb and on other boots is seeing them as the full 8 gb. What is causing this, and what I can I do about it?

The CPU cooler block is not mounted too tightly, I confirmed that earlier when troubleshooting.
Memtest86 found some errors so I am going to RMA the memory. Hopefully that will keep the BSODs away.

That's due to CPU cooler pressure usually, which he ruled out. If memtest fails, the memory is bad, there are few false positives (outside pressure issue)

ok - well ... that saves him a lot of plugging and unplugging of ram - it's easy with 2 slots cause there's only 2 ways to do it but with 4 slots - I"m thinking there are 24 different ways to mount 4 sticks of ram (i may be wrong - math isn't my strong suit) lol.
Thanks for the info - I had no idea what the cause of that phenomenon was.
